Courtyard Washington, DC/U.S. Capitol

1325 2nd Street, NE

Washington, DC  20002

Telephone Hotel Direct and Reservations:  (202) 898-4000

Book your group rate for Student National Medical Association block through this link.

All individuals are responsible for their own lodging and for making their own reservations; SNMA does not cover travel costs.  For reservations at the hotel, please call Marriott Reservations at (800) 321-2211 or (202) 898-4000 or use the link above.

The hotel’s special group rate for single/double accommodations is $139.00, plus local tax of 14.5% per night.  All guest reservations must be guaranteed with a major credit card.  Sharing is encouraged.  When calling, identify yourself as part of the “SNMA Room Block Jun2017 group.”  The cut-off date for making hotel reservations at the group rate is June 9, 2017.

You may still be able to get a room after the cut-off date, but there is no guarantee that the same rate will be offered, so if your travel plans are uncertain, it is better to reserve now.  There is no penalty imposed, if you have to cancel later, but be sure and also check the hotel’s cancellation policy.

See general information about the hotel here:

Check-in time is 4:00 PM.  Check-out is at 12:00 PM.  On Sunday, you will need to bring your baggage to the meeting location or ask the hotel Bell Desk to store it for you until you return for your departure.

Parking at the hotel is $42 per day.

Air Travel

The best in-bound and outbound airport for D.C. in Reagan National Airport (DCA).  There are pluses and minuses here… Fares in and out of DCA are sometimes more costly than at other neighboring airports, but there are more schedule choices available than going into Baltimore (BWI) or Dulles International (IAD).  Using the latter airports will require additional shuttle service costs of up to $70 RT and more time will be spent waiting.  Use DCA, if at all possible.

Train Travel

Washington, D.C. Union Station is located at 50 Massachusetts Ave NE, Washington, DC 20002, about 6 blocks (a short taxi ride) from the hotel.  Particularly if you are in the eastern seaboard corridor, travel by train may be an option for you.  Check AMTRAK schedules and fares here:

Using D.C. Metro

There are Metro subway stops within a few blocks of the hotel and/or the meeting location, so plan on doing a little walking.  The Metro station nearest to the hotel is NoMa-Gallaudet U./New York Avenue Metro (Red Line), right behind the Courtyard Marriott Hotel.  Enter the station on Florida Avenue.  Refer to the Metro map at the hotel's website, noted above.  The Metro stop closest to the AAMC meeting location is Mt. Vernon Sq./7th St.-Convention Center (Green Line).  The Red Line and Green Line cross at Judiciary Square, just a few blocks south of the meeting location at 6th and K Street, NW.  Use the D.C. Metor website to help guide you in choosing from several trip options:

Weekend Program Notes

  • Persons attending the meeting are advised to walk, use Metro, taxis or Uber to get to the meeting locations.  Parking is limited in the city and/or can be expensive at local lots.  Taxicab/Uber ride sharing is encouraged.  The Metro also links to AMTRAK and includes local bus routes (see URL, above).

  • To get to SNMA National Headquarters on Friday evening, there are several options for public transportation.  Please refer to the Metro site for these options for planning your travel around the city:  Of course, there is always Uber, but these will tend to be more expensive.

  • Refreshments will be served on Friday evening.  Saturday’s schedule will include breakfast and lunch.  On Sunday, only breakfast will be served.

  • Business dress is expected at NLI and BOD meetings.

See you there!
